Jumpstarting your fitness routine is all about removing friction and making it easy to just show up! Here are 3 tips to get you on your way to your first class of many. . .
1.Schedule Your WorkoutsThe best way to prioritize time for your fitness is to book an appointment with yourself and treat it like you would an appointment with your boss. Schedule your workouts into your google calendar as recurring events each week so you know they will happen. Check out our sister gym in Florida, LIV Athletic, quick time blocking video to learn how.2.Pack Your BagSetting yourself up for success will keep the excuses at bay. Try laying your clothes each night or pack a gym bag and put it in the car the night before.3.Put Yourself FirstLimit the last minute distractions by putting yourself first. If you already booked your workout on your calendar it will limit other things fighting for the same time slot. But when something “pops up” it’s your job to discern if there is a fire YOU have to put out or if it can wait. If it can wait, remember to insert this response “I am unavailable now, but can help at X date and time”.For Example: Someone asks to set up a meeting, appointment, or call with you this afternoon. Instead of cancelling your workout, send them . .. “I am unavailable now, but can help at X date and time”. If I get a call from my kids’ school that my son was injured and needs to see a doc, that is a fire and needs to be tended to. So you will have to reschedule that workout appointment for yourself later in the week. When getting started, the only expectation you should have for yourself is to show up. Studies show that even 50% consistency to your plan will get you results. The more consistent you are, the better and faster the results.Keep it simple, make yourself a priority, schedule your workouts ahead of time, pack your bag, and you’re ready to rock and roll!
